AI Artificial Intelligence Sandbox Series

Facilitator : e-LIS ID Team
Location : 430R Kresge Library
Date / Time : Wed, March 26, 2025, 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Description : Join our e-LIS Instructional Designers to learn how you can effectively and mindfully incorporate AI tools into your teaching in this new AI Sandbox Series! Drop-in or attend online for any of our new HyFlex workshops, each featuring a quick demonstration of a different concept or practice, followed by hands-on work time for you to try out the concepts yourself. Topics will vary by session, but each will involve a practical idea or activity you can try in your own courses. If you have any questions, you can reach out to idteam@oakland.edu.
Requirements : Bring your own device for hands-on work time.
Session Comments : With AI-generated content becoming more popular and available, we all know how important it is for our students to have AI literacy. But what does that look like in practice? In this workshop, you'll learn how you can start that conversation by having your students critique AI-generated content related to your discipline. We will discuss our recommendations for responsibly generating AI content, as well as how to design an assignment where students critically assess and evaluate the accuracy, bias, and usefulness of a particular piece of AI-generated content. You'll walk away with an AI-generated text or image and a set of assignment instructions you can use to conduct an AI critique assignment in your own course.
