Description : This session, facilitated by YuJa trainers, will introduce new users to YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring. It will cover the ways that faculty can use YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring to proctor their Moodle quizzes. Topics include how to access and install the YuJa Verity browser extension, how to add YuJa Verity to a Moodle quiz, how to use automatic proctoring, how to review your students' results, and how to use the instructor as live proctor feature.

Recognizing Diverse Language Backgrounds in the Classroom


Description : Linguistic diversity is an important, but often overlooked, aspect of student identity and experience. This session introduces instructors to the concept of linguistic diversity, or the many languages and varieties of English students bring to our classrooms. Instructors will learn how to position students’ linguistic backgrounds as an asset to their learning in order to engage all students and promote belonging. Participants will leave with at least one revision idea for an activity or assignment to better support the linguistic diversity of their students. How to Fail Forward: Helping Students Navigate and Learn from Failure


Description : We have all heard that we should “learn from failure.” But what does this actually mean to our students (and ourselves)? Together we will explore how our students experience failure, and how we can support them through the process of reflection, learning, and growth. In this interactive presentation, you will: Define failure and its role in the learning process; learn how a student’s failure affects their progress at OU; define some of the challenges students face that lead to failure; explore ways to help students see failure as part of our learning and not something to be ashamed of; consider how to integrate growth mindset or productive failure into your teaching and assessment to increase student resilience; learn about resources students can use to reflect on failure and determine what to do differently in order to benefit.

How Legal Knowledge Can Ruin a TV Show: Connecting Class Concepts to Pop Culture


Description : When students see a course concept's relevance in popular media, they become more engaged and apply concepts to different contexts, a key action for deep learning. See an example of how two business professors invited students to spot legal issues in The Office to better engage students going into non-legal careers.
